Most of them used every color available. Some used what they knew about complementary colors (opposites: red/green, orange/blue, purple/yellow) to make dramatic effects. Others relied on pattern or shape. After multiple painting sessions, they were introduced to neutrals. Neutrals are colors that have some of each primary (yellow, blue, red) in the mix. Neutrals help all the colors get along. They are like good hosts at a party; because they have a little of every color they make every color feel welcome.
